Model Engine Collectors Association
An International Organization · Founded 1960

MECA — the Model Engine Collectors Association — grew out of a small circle of collectors in the mid-1950s and was formally established under its current name in 1960. Today the Association connects enthusiasts from the United States and more than twenty countries worldwide who collect, restore, and document the small engines that powered model aircraft, cars, and boats from the early twentieth century through the golden age of model aviation: spark ignition, glow plug, diesel, and compressed-air power plants from hundreds of manufacturers across five continents.

The Bulletin

Six times each year MECA publishes its combined Bulletin and Swap Sheet — a journal of technical articles, restoration notes, history, and member exchange listings that has been in continuous publication since 1964. Members receive the Bulletin by post or as a PDF download.

Collectos

Members meet at regional and national Collectos throughout the year to buy, sell, trade, and talk engines. These informal gatherings are open to everyone — collector or curious newcomer alike. The annual National Collecto brings members together from across the country and abroad.

Membership

MECA is open to anyone with an interest in model engines — no prior experience required. Annual dues include a full-year subscription to the Bulletin and access to the members-only digital archive. Join the Association →
